In order to sign up you must wear the beYou Hud for the first time. The first time you wear the Hud it will recognize that you are not a member and provide a sign-up link for you. You must use this link to create an account. You will be redirected to the beYou website account creation page. Here you set your account properties: Age, Gender, Species and Password. The species option is going to be more relevant as beYou matures. We do not currently create game items specifically to match your species.
The only way to change your beYou password for the website is to visit one of the many kiosks in-world. The kiosks are located at the main beYou sim as well as all of the grocery stores. Once you find a kiosk click on it and select the Password option. Enter a new password and click Submit. We do not currently have any password restrictions but that may change in the future for your own security.
beyou Assets are the way you maintain your 'things' in beYou. These assets are linked to your account and nobody but you can see them or use them. They are all stored off in the beYou system and can be accessed on your profile page here. On the right side of the profile page is a series of folders that list all of your things and how much of each of those things you have. If you lose assets due to SecondLife issues or from a problem with something in-world we can easily check on the situation and replace them as necessary. This process is much more reliable then in-world prims.
The beYou stats are Mana, Wellness, Energy, Hygiene, Reputation, Mood, Social & Dedication. All together these stats will go up and down with the activities you take part in and will fluctuate with every item you end up using. Not all items affect every stat category. We will break down the categories for you in the future sections of the knowledge center and describe the best ways to maintain each one. As you get used to the stats you will find it is not very difficult to keep these up but in the beginning it can be a little bit of a challenge.
Professions in beYou are setup to allow you to grow as a beYou player. When you first start out you will be a level 0 in any profession (except for Cooking where you will start out at level 1). You will have to 'enable' professions for your account and can only have 3 active at any given time. Changing a profession locks you in for at least 30 days. When you first start out at level 0 you will produce the basic outputs for that profession. As you get higher and higher in the professions the things you produce will have more value to the people who consume your creations. These levels take time and dedication to progress in so don't be discouraged if you aren't racing through them as fast as you would like.
Skill points are what you will acquire over time as you complete activities in the game relevant to the various career paths you may choose. These can be any activity that involves a task that has to be completed. Some examples are cooking recipes, farming crops, exercising, crafting and skill training and more. We are always adding more activities as we continue to grow the game. Always remember that beYou has endless possibilities and we are working hard to get as many fun things out but these things do take time. Skill points are required in order to level up in your career path.
Yes, unfortunately you can die in beYou. But don't worry its not as big a deal as you'd think and its quite easy to prevent too! You just have to know how to stop yourself from kicking the bucket. When your wellness stat drops down to 0 you will begin to die. But it will take 3 full days with your wellness at 0% before you will reach your demise. You can easily prevent death by removing your beYou Hud when your wellness gets low. If you're not wearing the Hud your wellness cannot drop. So if it gets too low and you don't have the desire or time to keep your wellness up, simply remove the Hud and wait until you have the time and desire to get it back to a normal level. If you do kick the bucket, we have a revive angel that will bring you back to life. These are for sale at the main beYou sim. It will be in your best interest to take the Hud off though before you start to die though, just remember this when your wellness starts to take a nose dive!
You must use the beYou meter to add a friend. The meter is the little beYou Man that sits atop your head and provides stats information and allows you to interact with other users. The animations aren't perfect and yes it could use some work however you can use this to get social points and to add friends. In order to add a friend you will click on someone else's meter and you will be given a menu. This menu contains a list of social interactions. You select one action and the user will be given a chance to confirm this interaction on their end. After confirmed this person will be added to your friends list on the website. You can remove people as you see fit and also make a top 15 list which will filter to the top. Once on your list you will also see these friends if you have a beBell Phone. This will let you send messages to them and get more social points. More information will be provided about the phones in a different section of the knowledge center.
Right now there are a only a few options for friends but we are going to be adding more. As mentioned above you can interact with your friends using the beBell Phone. Sending text messages provides social points for your game stats. Soon you will be able to transfer certain assets to your friends using the website.
Families are similar to friends in that we have added them to beYou with the intention to improve and add more features as time goes on. Some of the things we will be adding for families include family leader boards, competitions between families, family specific achievements, family pages with image galleries and more. Families are made up of (1) head of household, the rest of the family members are either children (through adoptions) and extended family members (through the extended family process provided by a beYou Lawyer). Birth certificates can also be obtained although they do NOT require you to be in a family. Birth certificates also do not add users to a family. Anyone can chose to leave a family using the family page on the website and if you are a head of household you can request that members be removed from your family. We will provide a "Remove Family Member" option for the head of household however we have held back on that for the time being to help promote working out problems before they escalate.
If you are not in a family you can start your own family using the family page. There is a button to create a new family. You must chose a family name that doesn't already exist. Once created you can add family members through adoptions and extended family applications. If you are a beYou Lawyer you can process your own applications or you can search for someone else to handle this for you using the "Search Professionals" option on the website navigation menu. If you would like to be added to a family you will have to contact the head of household for that family. Once an application is submitted to join a family you will have to confirm this using your family page. If an application has been submitted with your name you will receive a family confirmation. This will be a green button that will show up on your family page. If you do not confirm your acceptance in the application it will not process and you will never be added. After you (and everyone else named in the application confirms your application will process).
Achievements are tasks setup for each profession to allow you to complete specific actions. These achievements are necessary for leveling up in a profession but they are not necessary in order to be involved with beYou. They are setup based on each profession and will provide a star for each achievement task completed. They range in size from a few stars to many. Some achievements require more than one action to complete and others can affect multiple achievements at the same time. This allows you to get multiple achievement stars with one action! Sometimes SecondLife issues cause achievement stars to be missed. This is unavoidable and we understand this may cause problems for you. Rest assured the admin's and CSR's can see your in-world actions and verify when you have missed a star. In this case you can submit a support ticket and it will be awarded for you.
This may happen for several reasons. The most common reason is that you do NOT have the profession enabled for which that achievement falls under. If you are working on a farming achievement and you do not have the farming profession enabled you will miss that achievement star. Also, issues with SecondLife sims can also cause a missed achievement star. When these things happen we will take action for you and provide the stars manually. We will first have to verify your actions to ensure all missed stars are valid but this process doesn't take a long time and we can quickly get your stars added for you in the event something goes wrong. Remember that things do go wrong and that we cannot always ensure 100% certainty due to the nature of SecondLife and the inability to control what happens on certain sims. Sim lag contributes to a lot of missed achievement stars.
For all grocery needs you will need to visit an accredited beYou Grocery Store. You can find these here There are currently 30 different grocery stores, many of which sell anything you will need for cooking. These stores also have landmarks setup at the beYou sim in the area outside of the City Hall. Some items you can get from local markets too. These local markets are provided by beYou users who have things they would like to sell but are not official grocery stores. Some of the local markets have their items posted on the beYou website here. If you would like to post your own items on the beYou website you can obtain a market scanner at the beYou sim.
Items used in crafting or other activities can also be found in the local markets. You can chose to harvest or craft your own supplies such as wood and tools or you can get them from other users who have already spent the time making them. These you can find using the beYou Spam groups or you can look for them on the local markets website page here.
Market scanners allow for users to post their items on the beYou local markets page. These scanners will provide a 10 day trial and they do not cost anything to obtain. After this 10 days they do work on a weekly tier at 300L per week. This price may drop soon to allow for more open access to the local beYou markets. Link to these pages are directly provided on the cooking page when users are checking their ingredients for recipes they plan to cook.
Sometimes this is normal. Not every action results in something being delivered to your SecondLife inventory folders. Sometimes completing an action adds beYou assets to your account. Be sure that you should be receiving something before you take action on it. If you know something should have been delivered to you and yet you didn't get anything you can use the beYou Support Page to file a support ticket for us. For these types of issues make sure to select "Redelivery" in the category drop down. You will need to supply as much detail as possible to ensure that the item can be redelivered promptly. You'll need to provide the day and time that it happened. Include the action(s) that you were performing and anyFailure to provide details will only delay this longer.
