This is a very broad question but we can do our best to summarize the most important parts. You must cook on a beYou Kitchen with ingredients that are either purchased from grocery stores, other users or grown yourself in your own garden. All of the ingredients used are assets that are stored on your beYou account. In your kitchen a cookbook will organize all of your recipe cards (also purchased in-world) which will allow you to choose which recipe you will work on at any given time. Only one recipe can be cooked at a time per kitchen and each dish in the recipe must be completed before the next dish can be started.
Cooking is a profession which means moving up in cooking levels will result in higher quality meals once a recipe is completed. Meals and dishes produced by each recipe will have affects on your game stats. When you eat the food created your stats will go up (and in some cases down) as you eat them. Kitchens can be shared with family or friends, and ingredients can be added by others using a family recipe box. Meals will have a grade level based on your cooking level. NG (No Grade) will not provide any beYou game stats. These are for non-beyou members. LG (Low Grade) is for level 1 cooks, SG (Standard Grade) is for level 2, GG (Good Grade) for level 3, PG (Premium Grade) for level 4, EG (Expert Grade) for level 5. After this there are only Gormet level items only possible to make by Gourmet Chefs.
When you start cooking a recipe one of the first choices you must make is how many servings you want to make. You can chose between 2, 4, 8 & 16. Each serving size has different ingredient requirements. In order to be sure you have enough please use the cooking page on the website (can be found here) to check for each serving size. On the left side of the page is a recipe explorer. These are all of your recipes and you will locate the recipe that you want to cook, right click on it and select "Check my Ingredients". This will bring up a table of all possible serving sizes and how much ingredients is needed of each item. It will show what you have (green check mark) vs what you don't have (a red X).
Additionally you can click on your recipe cards in-world and select "List Assets". This will provide a listing of how many ingredients you have for the things required by that recipe. This will not list by serving size but it will give you the amounts of each that you have.
This depends on the kitchen, however when you stand on the main kitchen section, the prep area will be close to that spot. Please remember this when you start putting things onto the counter. They will get in the way of your ingredients when you are cooking and can cause problems when you are trying to click on the cooking ingredients. Once you cook for the firs time on your kitchen remember where your ingredients are rezzing out and try to keep that space clear. All ingredients come pre-loaded in the kitchens so its not always necessary to use the recipe cards to add the ingredient prims to your kitchen. When new recipe's are released it usually goes in tandem with a new kitchen release with all necessary ingredient prims already put into the kitchen.
If a dish is cooking and you cannot see the progress bar over the top, please click on the cookbook and it will tell you how much longer its going to take before the dish is complete.
If there is a toaster involved in the cooking process remember that the toaster must belong to the kitchen owner! If you attempt to use a toaster on a kitchen where the toaster doesn't belong to the kitchen owner you will have problems.
If you are trying to eat food and you have more than one meal out on the table this will cause a problem! They will not play nicely together so please make sure to take one into inventory while you're eating the other. If you do not you may see that the assets are not being properly adjusted after you finish eating.
Yes. As the kitchen owner you have the ability to add other people to the access list. You do this using the cookbook. First stand on the cooking section and rez the cookbook out. Bring up the cookbook menu and select "Add User". This will require that the person you wish to add is standing close by. If that person is not around you will have to wait until they are with you at your kitchen. If they are in range it will bring them up on a list and once you select their name they will then be allowed to cook on your kitchen. Remember that this will give them the ability to deplete your cooking assets so make sure you trust this person and are ok with them using up your ingredients when you aren't around.
Those cabinets are there you just have to rez them out using the kitchen menu.
One of two things should happen. You should get assets added to your beYou account OR you should get a cooking item delivered to you. It depends on what dish and what recipe you are cooking. Look in local chat for all messages. When assets are updated or if you are being sent a meal it will tell you when that completed. If you get no messages please use the support site and tell us what time it happened (if you don't open the ticket right away) and exactly what you were cooking! Also, make sure to include the serving size! If we need to redeliver an item to you we won't know which one if you don't tell us how much you were making!
If you want to complete the full recipe, then yes. If you are only looking for a specific part of the recipe then you can just complete the dish you want. None of the recipe achievements will update if you do not complete the entire thing but you should still get your item delivered or your assets updated just from that single dish.
If this happens to you, please stand up and click on the cooking section. There will be a "Reset" option. This will place the kitchen back into basic mode. Once in basic mode you will have to stand on the kitchen and place it back into cooking mode. Once back in cooking mode click the counter and select the cookbook option again. It should rez back out to the counter and you can begin again.
Click on the cookbook and select "Get Progress". This will tell you what is left over. It may be an ingredient that you have already clicked on. That's ok, it just means the kitchen didn't hear that ingredient complete yet. Select the cookbook again and use the "Re Rez" option. This ingredient should show up on the list and once selected it will rez back to the counter. Click on it and it should move forward.
Yes, sometimes you are cooking on a friend or family members kitchen and they just don't have enough tomatoes to make that recipe. If you have tomatoes then you can provide yours instead! To do this you'll need to make sure their kitchen has a "Family Recipe Box". This box must be placed out by the kitchen owner. Once they have it rezzed out any family members can click on it, and add their assets to make sure the recipe can be cooked.
This happens because the ingredient was unable to setup. It happens when there are problems with messaging and sim related delay times. Please delete this ingredient manually from the counter (right click on the ingredient and select delete). You can still continue though, you just have to re-rez this item manually again by selecting re-rez on the cookbook menu. This item should appear on the list since it has not completed.
Please make sure all accessories and other decoration items are not on the counter top when you are cooking. These things will get in the way of your ingredients when its time to click on them. When things are rezzed on the counter they prevent your ability to click on ingredients to progress the dish. They may get hidden underneath your items so please keep the counter top clear when cooking!
Cooking achievements are completely based on completing a dish or a full recipe. Remember that recipes are made up of one or more dishes. Not all dishes and recipes will result in an achievement First make sure that the achievement you're trying to complete actually includes the dish or recipe you're working on. If you have already completed the achievement it will stop giving stars! Make sure you haven't already completed it. If you got the achievement message but did not see your star get awarded on your achievements page please go to the support page and file a Redelivery support ticket. We can research your issue and verify your actions and then manually award the achievement star for you.
Is your profession enabled? If you're going for an achievement please check which profession that achievement is intended for. If you don't have that profession enabled it will not award any stars. By enabling a profession you are locked into that choice for the next 30 days!
